The importance of a healthy mouth
It is often said that your mouth is a window into your body’s health, able to show you signs of infection and potential disease. Poor diet and lifestyle choices such as smoking and drinking not only cause issues for your teeth but are contributing factors to gum (periodontal) disease. In additional periodontal disease can be associated with mouth cancer, heart disease, diabetes and strokes.
Therefore, a good oral hygiene routine and regular visits to the hygienist will not only prevent cavities by removing plaque, tartar and stains; but can help maintain your health from head to toe.
Why you should visit our hygienist team
Dental Hygienists are trained professionals who work alongside dentists to maintain your oral health. There to prevent the need for any dental treatment, they can educate and inform you on good oral hygiene and give you the confidence you need to learn to love your smile.
Even the best brusher and flosser may find that there are areas that they find difficult to reach. Hygienists are excellent at removing stains from your teeth and a simple scale and polish will not only brighten your smile but stop disease and tooth loss whilst maintaining healthy tissues in the mouth.
A hygienist is also able to assist you in learning a more efficient cleaning routine for at home. They will teach you how to use special tools and techniques such as flossing or using interdental brushes for a more thorough clean and can advise you on which toothbrush and paste you should be using. They can also provide dietary advice and support you in breaking bad habits – all of which will help to improve your general oral wellbeing.

I think this dental practice deserves 10 stars! Before coming here I hated going to the dentist and often found it uncomfortable. Mel and Michelle are absolutely WONDERFUL.
I am now totally fine with dental appointments, and had no idea how actually pleasant they can be! Mel is a fabulous dentist and very gentle with my teeth. I had my first appointment with Michelle the hygienist this week. She was super informative, really put me at ease especially with how she explained everything she was doing, and did a lovely job. All the staff are very welcoming and show a lot if personal interest. If you don’t like going to the dentist then come to this practice, it will change your life
